Mr. Dung was speaking at a meeting with Prodi on Monday who is in Vietnam to attend the 4th ASEAN event series "Bridges - Dialogues Toward a Culture of Peace”. The Prime Minister expressed his hope that with his prestige Mr. Prodi will continue to enhance Vietnam’s relation with Italy and the EU, particularly Vietnam – EU negotiation on a free trade agreement. Mr. Dung stressed that Vietnam and the other 10 ASEAN countries wish to ensure peace and stability in the region in order to build an ASEAN community by 2015. He hoped that Mr. Prodi and the EU would continue to support Vietnam’s stance on solving disputes in the East Sea through peaceful means based on international law and the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
