Liechtenstein royals here on peace mission

The Nation - Saturday, March 15, 2003

Their Serene Highnesses Prince Alfred and Princess Raffaella of Liechtenstein arrive in Bangkok this morning on a private mission of peace.

Prince Alfred is visiting as chairman of the Advisory Board of the International Peace Foundation, an independent Vienna-based foundation under the joint patronage of 21 Nobel Peace Prize laureates.

While here, the couple will meet with prominent political, economic, scientific, cultural, religious and media representatives in preparation for events called “Dialogue towards a Culture of Peace”.

The events were initiated and hosted by the International Peace Foundation in cooperation with Thai institutions.

The more than 300 seminars, workshops, conferences and major public events will begin in Bangkok in November and deal with development conflicts in a globalised world and with the implications of globalization for Thailand.

The events aim to establish creative solutions to the growing threat of war and terrorism and to promote Thailand as a center for dialogue, diplomacy and international understanding.

Expected to attend are Nobel laureates, as well as international figures and Thai leaders.

They also have a busy schedule apart from these meetings.

They are scheduled to leave Bangkok on March 24.
