BECAUSE SOUTHEAST ASIA IS HOME TO a number of distinctly defined cultures, as well as languages, belief systems and faiths, the first of a series of ASEAN-wide events entitled "Bridges-Dialogues Towards a Culture of Peace" was launched to members of various sectors of society and the members of the press to promote relationship-building between ASEAN members. A high powered press conference kicked off the event which is headed by International Peace Foundation founding Chairman UWE MORAWETZ and is co-chaired by JAIME AUGUSTOZOBELDEAYALA and WASHINGTON SYCIP. In attendance was the former president FIDEL v RAMOS, speaker of the house JOSE DE VENECIA, TESSIE SY, FELlPE GOZON and MARIXI PRIETO. "Bridges" has invited several Nobel laureates who will speak on various topics ranking from the economy, politics and science.
