German DJ, Nobel laureate to give keynote speeches

The "Bridges: Dialogues Towards a Culture of Peace", an event series held to promote Thailand as a centre for dialogue and international understanding commenced its second and final series in December

Guest speakers for last two weeks of February programmes include German DJ Marusha and Prof.Peter C.Doherty, a 1996 Nobel Laureate for Medicine. Marusha is without exaggeration the world's most famous female DJ who started one of the most popular programmes on German radio and her own TV programme. Her single Somewhere Over the Rainbow became her biggest hit ever and she was awarded by VIVA Comet as "Best Techno Act" and nominated "Best Female Artist" at the MTV Awards.

Prof. Dohertry discovered how the immune system recognizes virus-infected cells. This discovery led to advancements in the field of organ transplantation and in the therapeutic efforts to strengthen the immune system against invading micro-organisms and certain forms of cancer and Aids.
